LYRICIST LOUNGE Vol 2

'Lyricist Lounge Vol 2' [Def Jam]

8.0

This is an album you absolutely cannot front on..
If you do then you're either high on crack or a straight hater who has no idea as to what Hip Hop is all about..

The Lyricist Lounge Vol 2 is a dope ass album in which collaborations really work. There's not enough I can say about this album except that everyone comes through and delivers superb performances. I'm especially impressed with the song featuring Macy Gray, Mos Def and Gang Starr called 'I've Committed Murder'. It has you sitting on the edge of your seat wanting to devour every word and every beat. It's my favorite song on the album..

I'm also feeling the unlikely match up of Cali crooner Nate Dogg with Pharoahe Monch and Mos Def in the song called 'Oh No'.. All three players come through and represent in such a way that they compliment each other and leave you wanting more. Equally impressive was the rhyme skills displayed by Pastor Troy and JT Money in a song called 'Watcha'. Oftentimes we don't expect folks from the South to hold their own. Make no mistake they do so on the Lyricist Lounge..

My other favorite cut is 'Right and Exact' by Dilated Peoples. They do it up lovely for everyone and have you feeling good about the purchase of this album..Lastly who can deny the strong showing of Kool G Rap and MOP..These cats leave you breathless with all the energy they exude..
