Common

'Like Water For Chocolate'

[MCA]

8.0

A continuation of where Tribe Called Quest left off..Jazzy beats, conscious lyrics.. Nice vibe.. Hits the mark...

Common has definitely grown over the years. Itys reflected in his music and his lyrics. Like Water For Chocolate is one of those albums you will have to peep over and over to really appreciate all that has to offer.. No complaints here.. The album is nice.. Don't expect any blunts and 40 ounce material on this venture.. It will remind you of Tribe Called Quest's 'Low End Theory' in terms of the mood it creates.. Stand out tracks include; 'Dooinit', 'Funky For You', 'A Song For Assata' which features Cee-Lo. This later song is an incredible and disturbing account of the what the former Black Panther who is now exiled in Cuba back in the 1970s.. Also on point is the return of Common's dad Lonnie POPs Lynn. Props to Common for a job well done...
