Motion Man shatters any stereotypes about Bay Area/west coast rap being all gangstered out and lyrically inept. Motion Man, a one time dj turned rapper is by far one of the most creative and lyrically potent emcees around. When he says clear the field he really means that. All sucker mcs better run and hide. Motion ryhmes, up, down to the left, to the right and backwards.

Even more incredible is the fact that Motion keeps his Bay Area roots in tact. Although his sound is different he grew up and admirered cats who laid down the foundation like Too Short and E-40. He pairs with E-40 on a song called ' Reason To Panic'. It was great hearing E-40 bust rhymes over what many would consider a traditional underground, backpack style beat.

Motion pays tribute to Too Short with a Oakland dope fiend beat on a song called Beetches. Too Short made a career out of the exaggerated saying of that word] accomapanied by dirty sexually explicit rhymes. Motion delivers a similar type song while producer Kutmasta Kurt scratches in Too Short's vocals. The song is hot and will have Bay Area cats seeing Motion as a hero..

The songs he does with other cats like Biz Markie and Planet Asia are great... Motion is superb and demonstrates the tight chemistry he has with cats. Kutmasta Kurt seemed to save all his best beats for this album.

Bottomline: Clear the Field 'cause Motion Man is about to blow the hell up.. Don't sleep on this album
