
Looks like the Bay Area will be rocking this weekend when KRS ONE, Mikah 9, Busdriver, DJ Disk, Encore and many more descend upon San Francisco to perform at "Chicken Soup for the Hip Hop Soul" Part One
The event is being put together by Stealth Productions in association with The Bay Area Art collective. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit "Chicken Soup for the Hip Hop Soul" co-authors Kool Kyle and Adisa
Banjoko’s ability to finish their highly anticipated project.
The event takes place Oct. 4th 2002 at Big Heart City located at 836
Mission
St. between 4th and 5th. The doors open promptly at 9 pm and will go on
until
5 am. Tickets are $18.00 pre-sale at www.ticketweb.com and Amoeba
Records,
and $20.00 the day of the show. Although the book itself is meant for
people
of all ages, the event is for those 21 an over only.
"There are a lot of artists and regular people on the street that we need
to
talk to in order to make this book all that it needs to be” said
co-author
Kool Kyle. "This show will help ensure that happens. There is an eclectic
mix
of groups performing, and all of them love Hip Hop. So we’ll be having
Hip
Hop, jungle, reggae DJ’s, live bands it’s gonna be a powerful event. We
are
grateful to KRS ONE for helping us actualize our vision. Hip Hop has
affected
the lives of millions of people in the music industry, not just Hip Hop
artists."
The line up for the show will include, but is not limited to MC’s KRS
ONE,
Mikah 9, Bus Driver, Encore, DJ Disk, jungle spinner DJ Hive, Paralax, Ins. Double
Negative, James Ek-sel, Soulstice, Laron, DJ Wicked, DJ SG-13, DJ Poizen,
turntablists DJ’s Relm and Streak, the live instrumentation of the
soul/break
band Gruve Disciplez and other surprise guests.
