The family of Jam Master Jay would like to thank all of Jay's wonderful friends and fans who have offered their love, support and prayers during this time. Jay's tragic death has left all of us numb. We pray that the person or persons responsible for taking away the breath from this loving husband and wonderful father is captured and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Jason's love, memory and music will continue to live on through all of us.

I am deeply saddened and shocked by the loss of my friend and long-time partner Jam Master Jay. He was family to me. We grew up together. We ate together. We slept together. We laughed together. We lived two third's of our lives together. He made every DJ not want to use a DAT machine. He stuck to the true essence of what a DJ in a hip-hop performance should be. The whole music industry has lost a great talent. I always thought we would be together forever, I will truly miss him.

For fifteen years, I've had the honor of working alongside Jam Master Jay. That honor was taken away from me last night when my friend was brutally murdered. Jason was not only a talented producer and DJ he was kind man, who had a passion for life and love for his family. As a member of Run-DMC he worked hard at helping other people and keeping things positive. I will truly miss him.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic and senseless death of our friend Jam Master Jay. He was truly one of the nicest people and great talents we have had the pleasure of working with over the past 15 years. A loving family man, Jason always took the time to make conversation with anyone-no matter how big or small. As a member of Run-DMC he spent his entire career promoting education and unity. We will miss his genuine smile, his kindness, and his musical talents.
